Round up of Singapore Trip 2018

I have finally finished sharing my travel adventures in Singapore, which I embarked on early this year. We had such a blast over there and I hope I inspired you to visit  one day or revisit this amazing and evolving city/country again.

My favourite things
  • Dish: Char kway teow
  • Drink: Barley Drink
  • Breakfast: Kopi coffee and Kava spread
  • Hawker centres have variety of delicious food, clean and super cheap
  • Food Republic Hawker Centres
  • High hygiene standards for food and clean water
  • Diverse cuisines, with many specialise styles from different regions
  • Cultural diversity and harmony
  • Everyone speaks English
  • Always helpful sometimes blunt but usually friendly
  • No bugs
  • Big garden metropolis
  • Kids facilities- toilets, activities, playground
Things that surprised me
  • Not many traffic lights, cross in a pack
  • No serviettes
  • Summer all year round, still pack a cardigan for air conditioned venues
  • Credit or nets (debit)
  • Uber pay cash
  • By height rather than age for public transport and some buffets
  • No obvious police or security presence
  • Up to 3 taxes for food outlets (hawker centres usually none)

As I write this I am currently on another trip in Scandinavia. If you asked me a month ago I would have said no we aren’t going anywhere, but a spontaneous decision has taken us to across the world. I will write a life update in a few days to let you know what we are up to.
